Welcoming a new baby is one of life’s most meaningful moments—fleeting, tender, and impossible to recreate. Choosing the right newborn photographer is about more than simply documenting those early days. It’s about entrusting someone to preserve the beginning of your child’s story with care, intention, and artistry.
For families in Boerne, San Antonio, and the greater Texas Hill Country, the selection process can be daunting. Yet, not all newborn photography experiences offer the same level of artistry and attention to detail.
Consider these key factors to help you make an informed choice.
Newborn photography is a highly specialized art. It requires not only a creative eye, but a deep understanding of newborn safety, handling, and comfort.
An experienced newborn photographer knows how to gently guide each pose, recognize baby cues, and create a calm, controlled environment where your baby is always the priority.
Look for a photographer who:
Peace of mind is not a luxury—it’s essential.
In those early weeks of motherhood, simplicity matters.
A truly elevated newborn photography experience should feel effortless from beginning to end. From styling and wardrobe to session design and final artwork, every detail should be thoughtfully handled for you.
Rather than a quick, transactional session, look for a photographer who offers:
This is where photography becomes more than images—it becomes an experience you can enjoy and remember.
Your baby’s first portraits should feel just as beautiful decades from now as they do today.
When reviewing a photographer’s portfolio, pay attention to consistency and style. Are the images soft, refined, and timeless? Or do they lean heavily on trends that may quickly feel dated?
A refined, classic approach ensures your portraits will remain relevant and meaningful for generations.
In today’s digital world, it’s easy for images to remain unseen—stored away on phones or hard drives.
But your baby’s first portraits deserve more.
Look for a photographer who specializes in heirloom-quality artwork—pieces designed to be displayed, held, and passed down. From handcrafted albums to custom wall portraits, these are the pieces that become part of your family’s home and history.
Because these moments aren’t meant to be scrolled past… they’re meant to be lived with and enjoyed every day.
Your newborn session should feel like a pause—a quiet moment in the midst of a new season.
The right studio environment is warm, welcoming, and designed with both baby and parents in mind. From comfortable seating to a peaceful atmosphere, every detail should support a relaxed and enjoyable experience.
For many families, this becomes one of their first opportunities to simply sit, breathe, and take it all in.
From the moment you inquire, you should feel guided and cared for.
A high-end newborn photographer will walk you through every step—from when to reserve your session (ideally during your second trimester) to how to prepare, what to expect, and how your final artwork will be selected.
You should never feel uncertain. Only supported.
These first days with your baby will pass more quickly than you can imagine.
Choosing the right newborn photographer ensures that when they do, you are left with more than memories—you are left with something tangible, meaningful, and lasting.
Something your child will one day hold in their hands and know just how deeply they were loved from the very beginning.
Jená Craig Photography proudly serves families across Boerne, San Antonio, and the Texas Hill Country, providing a luxurious, full-service newborn portrait experience tailored with meticulous care, comfort, and artistic detail.
These cherished moments deserve to be captured beautifully.
We recommend reserving your newborn session during your second trimester to ensure availability on our calendar. We only accept a limited number of newborns each month to provide a highly personalized experience for every family.
The ideal time for newborn portraits is within the first 7–14 days after birth. During this window, babies are typically sleepier and more easily posed, allowing for those soft, curled, timeless images.
We have thoughtfully prepared everything you may need—from wraps and blankets to carefully curated wardrobe pieces for baby. You’re welcome to bring any meaningful items, but most families arrive with just their baby and leave the rest to us.
We provide guidance on wardrobe selections to ensure your portraits feel cohesive and refined. Our style leans toward soft, neutral tones and timeless textures that photograph beautifully and complement your home.
Newborn sessions are intentionally unhurried and typically last 2–3 hours. This allows time for feeding, soothing, and ensuring your baby is comfortable throughout the experience.
Your images are presented as part of a curated collection of finished artwork, including heirloom albums and custom wall portraits. Digital files are available within select collections, designed to complement your printed pieces.
Following your session, we invite you back to the studio for a personalized ordering appointment where you’ll view your images and select the pieces that best fit your home and family.
Our studio proudly serves families throughout Boerne, San Antonio, and the Texas Hill Country, welcoming clients who value a refined and thoughtfully guided portrait experience.
